What is RSS?

RSS is a new browsing method which allows web sites to share headlines and lists without requiring readers to actually visit the web site. You’ve likely seen RSS options on any of a number of news or blog sites that publish headlines to subscribers.

The Racing Colorado RSS will allow you to conveniently view a list of all our running, cycling, multisport, and winter sport calendar events two weeks out. If you want more information on a particular event you may click on the title of the event, linking you to the full details at RacingColorado.com.

You can read RSS feeds:

By using a stand alone RSS reader program, sometimes called an “aggregator” that you download to your own computer.
Through a web-based reader, i.e., Google Reader, My Yahoo, etc.
In certain web browsers such as Firefox and certain email applications.

How can I use the RSS service?

To start using the RSS services you need a dedicated software to read news websites providing RSS services. There are plenty of such programs and most are free. The most popular come as desktop applications that you can download and install on your personal computer. A search using your favorite search engine will provide numerous options for aggregators in addition to those listed here. Some well-known RSS clients may be downloaded at:

After downloading and installing one of these programs you can then introduce the RSS feed, usually by pasting the URL (web address) of your chosen feed into the application or using a “New” command. It’s really very simple, and usually obvious in each RSS reader.

Firefox users may add RSS feeds to the browser using the 'Live bookmarks' option.
